Roman Catholics

Roman Catholic patients in the hospital have some unique spiritual needs. Since Catholics look to the grace of the sacraments when sick or injured, many may request a priest to administer sacraments such as the Anointing of the Sick, Penance, or Holy Eucharist. Since the Catholic Church believes in the real presence of Jesus in the consecrated bread and wine, only priests, deacons, or commissioned ministers of the Eucharist may bring the Eucharist to the sick.

Daily Holy Eucharist
For our Roman Catholic patients, there is a daily Eucharistic ministry. Eucharistic ministers bring Holy Communion to the hospital every day. Patients who wish to receive this sacrament should let their nurses know, so they can make arrangements.
