Autoimmune Therapy

Autoimmune conditions develop when the immune system does not recognize normal body tissue. This hypersensitivity produces a reaction similar to allergies. The immune system reacts to substances that it normally would ignore. Autoimmune disorders result in the destruction of one or more types of tissues, abnormal growth of an organ, or changes in organ function. These changes are usually life altering and Immunoglobulin Therapy (IVIG) therapy can help to minimize symptoms.

Many patients can receive this therapy for autoimmune disorders intermittently over a period of months or years. IVIG is used to treat a number or autoimmune disorder conditions.

Delivery:

IVIG is administered by pump through a peripheral or central venous route. Usually takes 4-6 hours for

completion and is provided as per protocol by our infusion nurses. We monitor for any side effects and assist with the management of the IVIG products.
