Role of Physical Therapy:  Physical therapy is a health care profession which diagnoses and treats individuals of all ages, who have medical problems or other health-related conditions that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives. Physical therapy examines each individual and develops treatment techniques to promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability. In addition, they work with individuals to prevent the loss of mobility before it occurs by developing fitness and wellness oriented programs for healthier and more active lifestyles.

Occupational Therapy

Role of Occupational Therapy:  Occupational therapy is a health care profession which provides services to individuals of all ages and abilities to live life to its fullest. Occupational therapy assesses an individuals psychological, physical, and social traits, and establishes goals to maintain or rebuild their independence in everyday activities such as dressing, grooming, feeding, household management, and driving. Occupational therapy focuses on returning the person to the highest level of independence that is possible.

Speech Therapy

Role of Speech & Language Pathology (Speech Therapy):  Speech and language pathology is a health care profession which provides services to individuals of all ages. Speech and language pathology assesses and treats problems identified in an individuals speech, language, communication, voice and swallowing skills. When normal speech is not possible, they train patients to use special devices for communication. They also work with individuals who have problems with memory, understanding and problem solving as it relates to communication.

Recreational Therapy

Role of the Therapeutic Recreation (Recreational Therapy):  Recreational Therapy is a health care profession that helps individuals acquire, develop, and maintain a variety of leisure skills. These leisure skills contribute to a patient's recovery and adjustment to acute and chronic illnesses, disabilities, and impaired conditions. Recreational therapy also helps adapt activities and equipment to meet the individual needs of the patient and to allow them to participate in leisure activities.  Recreational Therapy is provided at the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit.
