New home to Ingham orthopedics; many services exclusive to this hospital
Ingham Regional Orthopedic Hospital (IROH) was organized in
2004 as a medical setting for specialized services, with both inpatient and
outpatient capabilities. "We have more than 550 physicians, 25 orthopedic
surgeons, and specially-trained clinical staff," says Patrick Salow, Administrator of Operations,
IROH.
"This hospital provides technology and treatment facilities unique to the
services we deliver. While we always strive for excellence in treatment and
outcomes, we work hard to deliver customer service that exceeds the expectations
of our patients and their families."
Orthopedics, long a center of excellence
for Ingham Regional Medical Center, performs more than 10,000 inpatient and
outpatient procedures each year. The demand for our clinical excellence required
building a dedicated 33-bed inpatient unit for 2-4 day recovery stays from major
orthopedic procedures, a second inpatient unit was added just three years later
to meet the demand. Ingham Regional Orthopedic hospital now has 52 beds
dedicated to inpatient orthopedics..
More than 50 outpatient procedures are done each day at The
Endoscopy Center.
The center focuses on colonoscopies, gastrointestinal
diagnostics, and surgical intervention for obstructions, ulcers, and
acid reflux disease.
The Center for Sleep and Alertness sees
10-12 patients each day for overnight or daytime sleep studies. While there are
approximately 80 different sleep disorders, the medical and clinical staff most
frequently observes and treats sleep apnea, Restless Legs Syndrome, narcolepsy,
insomnia and circadian rhythm disorders. Board-certified pulmonologists Gauresh
Kashyap, M.D., Ashad Abbasi, M.D., and C. Mohan Gera, M.D. oversee the Center’s
operations and follow-up care for patients diagnosed with sleep disorders.
Geropsychiatry
services are offered on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Inpatient
Geropsychiatry can provide intensive medical and mental intervention for 16
patients over a 21-day stay. Outpatients are seen by board certified
psychiatrists (with qualifications in geriatrics) Anthony Ellis, M.D. and
William Beecroft, M.D.
Year-round Diabetes Education is offered exclusively at IROH.
The Heart Failure Center offers outpatient education and IV
infusion therapy, both to patients whose hearts are unable to meet the body’s
metabolic demands. The Infusion Center provides elective
outpatient non-chemotherapeutic infusion therapy.
Neurodiagnostics
provides outpatient nerve conduction studies, evoked potential studies and
electroencephalogram imaging to assist physicians in making or confirming a
diagnosis.
