McLaren Central Michigan's MRI breast imaging system assesses multiple tumor locations, and better identifies early breast cancer, especially in women with dense breast tissue. It can further evaluate abnormalities first detected by mammography or ultrasound and is valuable for screening patients at high risk for breast cancer.

Breast MR imaging does not replace digital mammography, which remains the first step in diagnosis for tumors and abnormalities. All breast imaging procedures are performed by certified breast MRI specialists, who take the time with each patient prior to the exam to thoroughly explain the procedure.
