McLaren Central Michigan is pleased to welcome Kayla Yaklin, MS, OT, occupational therapist, as a member of the Rehabilitation Services staff.  Yaklin, a recent graduate of the Saginaw Valley State University Occupational Therapy graduate program, works with pediatric, adult and geriatric patients of all diagnoses, injuries and surgeries.  She specializes in post-joint replacement rehabilitation and general occupational therapy to reduce pain, and improve strength and range of motion in the upper extremities.  Yaklin provides occupational therapy services in both the home care and outpatient settings.

“Having Kayla in this position allows us to serve the increasing numbers of patients in need of outpatient occupational therapy,” said Beth Riley, Director of Rehabilitation Services, “Being a recent graduate, she also brings a wealth of knowledge to our team regarding new practices in the OT field.”

A Weidman native, Yaklin attended Chippewa Hills High School where she played basketball, volleyball, and softball, and coached t-ball.  Upon graduation, she was accepted at Saginaw Valley State University, where she received her Master of Science degree in occupational therapy.

Yaklin completed her clinical internship at McLaren Central Michigan in May, taking on responsibilities such as educating total joint replacement candidates at bi-weekly joint replacement seminars.

“My favorite part of being an OT is working with children and helping adults become more independent and confident in their daily lives,” Yaklin said.  “I also have a great support system in my awesome coworkers, who are always willing to share their expert knowledge.”

Yaklin’s office is located in McLaren Central Michigan’s Rehabilitation Services department on the first floor of Wellness Central, 2600 Three Leaves Drive in Mt. Pleasant.  Appointments can be made by calling (989) 779-5604.

In her free time, Yaklin enjoys playing softball, playing with her cat, and spending time with her family.
