McLaren Central Michigan is pleased to announce that Board Certified Ophthalmologist Lawrence M. Evans, DO has joined the active medical staff. Evans has expanded his practice, Evans Eye Center, with a new office in Mt. Pleasant.
Dr. Evans, an Alma resident, has nearly 30 years of experience in ophthalmology, or eye care, and his clinical expertise includes cataract surgery; diabetic evaluations and treatment; and glaucoma laser surgery.
“I love to help people see clearly,” Dr. Evans said. “With cataract surgery, I can potentially help someone go from being nearly blind one day to having clear vision the next.”
Dr. Evans attended medical school at A.T. Still University in Kirksville, MO. He completed his internship and residency at Detroit Osteopathic Hospital and is a fellow American College of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology.
In his free time, Dr. Evans enjoys water activities, including sailing and scuba diving, snow skiing, photography, and aviation. In 1991, he earned his private pilot license with instrument and seaplane rating. He also completed aerobatic training, during which he spent a lot of time flying upside down.
“It’s left me with more than a few interesting stories,” Dr. Evans said. “I’ve landed on water, including lots of lakes and rivers, in Michigan, Florida, and in the Bahamas.”
Dr. Evans and his wife, Mary, have five children: Cameron, 24; Mary, 21; Jacqueline, 20; Charles, 14; and Christine, 12.
Dr. Evans’s Mt. Pleasant office is located at 211 S. Crapo, Suite J. Appointments can be scheduled by calling (989) 775-EYES (3937). He continues to maintain other locations in Alma and Carson City.
