The Mt. Pleasant High School (MPHS) JV and Varsity girls’ volleyball teams made a donation of $1,000 to the Norval K. Morey Cancer Center in Mt. Pleasant as part of the “Dig Pink” program. Dig Pink is an annual breast cancer awareness rally organized by the Side-Out Foundation. Events are hosted every October by volleyball teams nationwide to further breast cancer awareness and education.
This was the MPHS volleyball teams’ fourth year participating in Dig Pink, and their third year soliciting corporate sponsors. In addition to sponsorships, the girls sold t-shirts and balloons, and held a silent auction and bake sale the night of their Oct. 9 home game against Bay City Central. The girls raised a total of $4,000, which was divided between four cancer care organizations. After four years participating in Dig Pink, MPHS volleyball has raised about $18,000 total, and has donated nearly $5,000 of that total to the Morey Cancer Center.

McLaren Central Michigan would like to thank the MPHS volleyball program for their continued support of the Morey Cancer Center and for their dedication to raising cancer awareness in our community.
