McLaren Medical Oncology Associates

The diagnosis of cancer can be very emotional and life changing. It demands prompt and thorough diagnosis, effective treatment, ongoing medical management, and compassion from the healthcare team. McLaren Medical Oncology is a full-service, community-based outpatient cancer care facility. Our oncologist, nurses and the cancer treatment team become part of each patient’s "family" support system. 

Our approach to patient care: 

• A multidisciplinary team approach, where the clinical team works with each patient for coordinated and comprehensive treatments. As needed, patient’s cases are discussed at tumor board including medical oncology, radiation oncology, surgeons, pathology, and radiology to determine the most appropriate care for the patient. 
   
• An on-site pharmacist who mixes all chemotherapy regimens and answers questions about infusion, oral medication and complementary therapies. 
   
• Being a McLaren practice, we work closely with McLaren’s inpatient oncology unit and the Radiation Oncology Program. 
   
• Patients referred to specialized centers at both McLaren Greater Lansing and McLaren Orthopedic Hospital. 
   
• After appropriate treatment planning with the physician has been discussed with the patient, we then schedule an appointment with our Physician Assistant for a private teaching session. We encourage the patient to bring family and friends with them as she will cover the treatment and what to expect throughout the treatments. 
   
• We have a staff member that works closely with our pharmaceutical companies and programs to get financial assistance if needed. 
   
• American Cancer Society Patient Resource Center for cancer education and information. 
   
• Physicians are on-call after hours for consultations and to handle medical emergencies.
