Cancer

Information about cancer abounds and it is important to be a critical consumer and arm yourself with knowledge. However, please keep in mind that no organization or resource can ever replace the judgment of your trusted cancer care team.

As you sift through information, be sure to consider the source and always question whether the source should be trusted. Another important consideration is whether the information is based on research. Although the most reliable medical knowledge comes from clinical trials, not all information gained from clinical trials will be applicable to every patient. We also encourage patients to beware of mass media reports on cancer screening tests, diagnostic tests, investigational therapies, and potential risks from treatment, as they often generalize claims. Be sure to talk to your physician and nurse about your questions and concerns.
