Clinical Education Council
The purpose of the Nursing Clinical Education Council is to define, implement, and maintain educational standards that promote professional growth and ongoing clinical competency. The Nursing Clinical Education Council reviews annual educational needs through a needs assessment and sets goals. It ensures that educational plans meet the needs of nurse Colleagues. The Council also implements initiatives that support national certifications, advanced education, and membership in professional organizations. The Nursing Clinical Education Council collaborates with the Training Action Committee (TAC) on organizational learning initiatives. The Nursing Clinical Education Council actively promotes partnerships with schools of nursing.
Nursing Continuing Education (CE)
The Division of Nursing encourages and supports continuing education. McLaren Northern Michigan (OH-307, 6-1-2013) is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Ohio Nurses Association (OBN-001-91), an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. In 2011, 43 CE offerings were provided through independent study and faculty led classes and conferences, with 2,078.6 contact hours awarded. Additional resources are available through our Medical Library/Intranet such as Mosby’s Clinical Updates, which offers 50 CE titles ranging from 0.5 -1.59 contact hours.
