The emergency medicine rotation offers students the diverse experiences of a busy Emergency Trauma Center. Students manage the care of acute and non-acute patients. After evaluating patients, the students discuss and plan the studies and therapies with a staff physician.
Students participate in teaching conferences directed by attending staff and interdepartmental conferences on trauma and critical care. Early in the rotation, students review pivotal topics and procedures including toxicology, orthopedics, splinting, the use of the slit lamp, and wound repair.
Limited to fourth-year students
