The Riley Foundation awards nearly $20,000 in scholarships annually to deserving high school students in Pontiac, enabling them to attend the Osteo-CHAMPS summer program.
Osteo-CHAMPS (Osteopathic Careers in Health and Medical Professions) is an innovative pre-college enrichment program offered at Michigan State University. It forms partnerships with Michigan high schools and community foundations to help capable young students from disadvantaged backgrounds pursue careers in health and medicine.
Applicants must demonstrate excellent academic records, provide teacher recommendations and write personal statements. Scholarship participants take part in a two-week residential program on campus, which includes a pre-college science curriculum, a primer in osteopathic medicine, and social activities encouraging interaction with health professionals and college students.
Participants also learn how to sharpen their study and test-taking skills, boost motivation, and enhance leadership qualities.
The Riley Foundation continues to champion exceptional students to strive for excellence. The generous support of our constituents makes this possible. Thank you for continuing to nourish the future of our youth.
Applicants for the Osteo-CHAMPS Program must obtain application packets from their high school counselors and fulfill the following:
- Be a high school student entering the 11th or 12th grade
- Demonstrate an excellent academic record
- Provide teacher recommendations
- Write a personal statement telling us why you should be selected for the scholarship
