Pulmonary Medicine

Students in the pulmonary medicine elective participate in the diagnostic evaluation and therapeutic management of inpatients with a wide variety of pulmonary disorders. This experience includes work-ups, writing orders (under supervision), and assisting with diagnostic procedures. Students gain experience in sophisticated laboratory studies of pulmonary function.

Students participate in daily morning teaching rounds and departmental conferences. Students are assigned topics or cases to present at rounds and/or conferences.

Prerequisite: General Internal Medicine

Please note that all students scheduled for this rotation will be required to take a maximum of two nights of general internal medicine overnight call.
