During this rotation, students follow patients from admission through surgery and post-operative care. Emphasis is placed on pre- and post-operative evaluation and management, the pathophysiology of surgical diseases, and the metabolic consequences of surgical intervention.
Multi-system trauma patients are admitted to general surgery, exposing students to diverse and challenging situations for patient resuscitation and care.
