Amanda Vaglia, DO, Program Director
Dr. Vaglia is native of rural Juniata County where all of the local physicians were family physicians. Dr. Vaglia left her rural home to study biology at Washington and Jefferson College and follow in the footsteps of her own hometown family physicians. With that goal in mind, she obtained her DO degree at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2001. Dr. Vaglia completed her family medicine residency at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, and is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. Upon completion of her residency program she returned to rural Pennsylvania, where she has practiced in a private practice family medicine group in Indiana County for the past 17 years. Dr. Vaglia considers it an honor to care for her neighbors and generations of their families from newborns to geriatrics. As a rural first generation college graduate, Dr. Vaglia is eager to give back to rural Pennsylvania communities by training family physicians in and for those rural communities.
Dr. Vaglia has experience with undergraduate medical education at all levels, both domestically and abroad on global health missions. She has now moved on to lead the efforts to build a family medicine residency program here at Indiana Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Vaglia and her pediatrician husband live on a farm with their six children. When she has a few moments of free time, Dr. Vaglia enjoys bicycling, ballroom dancing, and traveling with her family.
