The S&T Wellness Center, 2010 Shelly Drive, provides a medically based fitness program in a safe and friendly environment for adults transitioning from rehabilitative therapy or simply looking for a place to start exercising.
The professional staff, trained in exercise prescription, monitors each member to achieve maximum results, based on existing medical conditions. The center specializes in providing exercise for adults with cardiovascular or pulmonary disease, diabetes or any other chronic health conditions. There is a one-time initiation fee and members are billed monthly. Most insurance plans do not provide coverage for exercise.
Membership cost: $40 a month, $25 initiation fee. SilverSneakers and SilverFit accepted.
Mindy Sawtelle-Zottola
Education: Graduated from IUP in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science.
Work: Joined Indiana Regional Medical Center in 2007 in cardiac rehab, pulmonary rehab, and wellness. Experienced in designing exercise programs for all types of clients to help them reach their individual goals.
Personal background: Married to Art Zottola, and have three children and a stepdaughter, Kirsten, Kylen, Kayliegh, and Kristina. I enjoy riding horses, running marathons and enjoying family time.
Awards: Qualified for the 2000 Olympic Marathon Trials, nine-time State Champion and eight-time All-American in track and cross country, Athlete of the Year, regional cross country champion, Inducted into the IUP Hall of Fame 2016. Numerous awards and marathon wins.
Stephen Wunz MS, PES
Education: Master of Science in Exercise Science, California University 2008; Bachelor's degree in Science Physical Education, University of Arizona 1990; Certified Performance Enhancement Specialist through National Academy of Sport Medicine.
Work: Exercise physiologist, Indiana Regional Medical Center 2012 – present, specializing in cardiac rehab, Parkinson’s disease, congestive heart failure, diabetes, orthopedic rehab and weight loss. Director of Wellness and Sports Performance, Indiana Total Therapy 2009–2012; Assistant Athletic Trainer, Indiana High School 2009; Physical Education teacher/deptartment chair, Kennedy Middle School, Brevard County School District 1991–2009.
Awards: Brevard County School District award of excellence; 2nd place Mr Arizona Light weight 1990; Florida State Powerlifting Championship 1st place 165lb 2003; Florida State Powerlifting Championship 1st place 181lb 2004; Southern States Regional Powerlifting Championship 1st place 181lb 2004; National Ranking 21st 181lb Powerlifting USA Magazine.
Sara Zambotti, M.S.
Work: Exercise physiologist
Personal background: I'm a mom, competitive distance runner and lover of all things health and fitness! My career in the medical fitness field began in 2004 after graduating with my Master of Science degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Since then I have worked with a variety of populations in Florida and California and eventually made my way back to Pennsylvania in 2012. I have since been a part of the Indiana Regional Medical Center family as an exercise physiologist at the S&T Wellness Center. I love to educate and teach old and new members of the benefits of exercise and get them going on a safe and effective program based on their needs and abilities. I also have developed our Wellness Center running program that consists of a structured training plan as well as one personal training day per week.
Personal achievements/awards: Six-time All-American in track and cross country from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, 2014; IUP Athletics Hall of Fame Inductee, 2015; Kiski Area High school Sports Hall of Fame inductee.
